As many as 150 watercolor painters grouped in Asian Watercolors (AWC) are displaying their works in an exhibition which opened in the artist village of Ubud on Saturday and is to run until November 30th. On display at joint exhibition are 140 watercolor paintings, said the chairman of the event’s organizing committee, Iwan Sulistyo, in the company of AWC Secretary General Alvin Lee, and the director of Neka Museum, Pande Wayan Suteja Neka, here Saturday.

He said AWC was holding the exhibition once every two years and Indonesian has been hosted three times in a row since 2002 until 2008. Of the three exhibitions, two were held in the Neka Museum in the artist village of Ubud, Bali. “This year’s exhibition is the 19th AWC has organized,” Sulistyo said, adding that AWC was intended to strengthen relations among watercolor artists in the Asian region.

He said AWC would this year also hold meetings and a workshop where its members would exchange information and cultivate peer solidarity. AWC groups watercolor artists from Korea, Myanmar, Thailand, China, Hongkong, Taiwan, and Indonesia. Its exhibitions are also supported by other countries such as Japan, Malaysia, and Singapore.
