The number of tourists visiting Bali from January through October 2008 was 1,660,023. The number was increased by 20% compared to the same period last year which was only 1,375,082 tourists. Based on that number the Governor of Bali was confident that the target of 1.9 million tourist visits to Bali in 2008 will be safely achieved.
One of the large international events held in Bali was the first Asian Beach Games (ABG) which attracted many foreign tourists. In addition to that, execution of Bali bombers also affected Bali tourism. There is great hope that after execution more tourists will come to Bali to enjoy both natural and cultural attractions.
Furthermore, foreign government such as Australia will choose Bali as their main holiday destination because besides the island is near by distance, Bali has its own uniqueness that can not be found in other places all around the world.
