After packed with thousands of dead fishes, Kuta Beach was filled with debris washed away by the sea. The debris consists of organic and inorganic wastes such as plastics.

I Gusti Ngurah Tresna, the head of Kuta Duty Force, said “the dead fishes have already cleaned by the officers and now only thrashes left on the beach. The phenomenon ussually occurs every November or December.” The garbage had been pilling up since five days ago and the officers in Kuta Beach already picked up about 20 trucks away.

Tresna said that the debris will be increasing next month. The same thing happened last year when approximately 1,000 trucks of garbage were carried away by the officers from the beach.

Tourists disturbed by the garbage spreading all around the beach. Many of them left once they saw the beach filled with garbage. In addition to the dirty beach, the cloudy weather also made the tourists reluctant to spend their time on the beach. “We keep on giving proper information to the tourists regarding this phenomenon and work hard to clean the beach,” added Tresna.
