In the middle of financial crisis happened all around the world, Bali tourism gained more profit because the increasing number of tourists visited the island during Christmas and New Year holiday.
Sugeng Purnomo, the head of Bali’s Hotel Public Relation Association (HHPB) said “the cancellation made by foreign tourists replaced by domestic tourists visited Bali in the last few weeks. The tourism business is gaining more benefit at this time of the year.”
Since the Christmas and New Year started, most of the stars hotel in Bali filled with domestic tourists and most of them booked the room until January 4th 2009. Mr. Purnomo who also the serves as the Marketing and Communication Director in The Laguna Resort& SPA Nusa Dua said “the occupancy rate in our hotel was up to 95% and there are some hotels fully booked.”
Star hotels in Kuta and Nusa Dua charged from $ 100 up to $5,000 for one night but still many domestic tourists stayed in the hotels. Domestic tourists also crowded in other tourism sites such as Ubud, Sukawati. and Bali Bird Park & Rimba Reptil in Singapadu.
