Denpasar Government continues to arrange Gajah Mada area closing to two big events, Gajah Mada Town Festival (GMTF) and Great Sale 2008. The two big events will be held on December 28 through December 30. I Wayan Gatra, the head of Denpasar Industry and Trade Department, said “there are some parts need to be fixed and arranged in order to make visitors feel comfortable in this area.”

“In arranging Gajah Mada area, we already coordinate with other department and the renovation currently being done in several points such as in the intersection between Arjuna and Gajah Mada Street, Catur Muka intersection, Surapati and Kaliasem intersection, and Intersection between Letda Regug and Mayor Wisnu Street.”

According to Gatra, the damage which happened in several places was because the high number of cars uses the road and the rain pouring down in the area. “The renovation will be finished before the Gajah Mada Festival starts,” added Mr. Gatra. In addition to repair some parts of Gajah Mada, Denpasar Government also build gardens especially near the boulevard by planting some flowers such as ‘jempiring’and ‘jepun’ and placing artistic lamps on the garden.

The shop owners in the area also asked to create unique and interesting store names and sign in order to attract more people to visits the area. Hopefully, during the festivals, the situation will be wonderful and entertaining so it can attract more tourists to visit Bali.
