The head of Bali’s Police Department, Ashikin Husein, said that there was no bomb or other form of terrors in the end of 2008. The statement was said in relation to anti-terror drill conducted in Bali.
“It is not because of any terror threats. It is a practice to prepare our self for the real scenario,” added Ashikin. The drill was done on Sunday, December 21′ 2008 in three hotels which were Hard Rock Kuta, Intercontinental Jimbaran and The Westin in Nusa Dua.
The drill was led by the head of Kodam IX/Udayana, Hotmangaradja Pandjaitan joined by other officers from Bali’s Government. The anti–terror drill involved anti–terror squad from Yonif Raider 900 and Detasemen Khusus 88 Anti–Terror from Bali Police Department.
People on the area were very enthusiastic witnessing the practice which was conducted only 500 meters away from the Bali Bomb I explosion site. The drill on those three sites was differentiated by the level of problems faced by the authorities.
Started by the lowest level in The Hard Rock which only required evasive actions by the Police and the highest was in The Westin which needed military force. Ashikin said “this is not a show of power but it is needed to guarantee our safety in Indonesia.” Similar drills have been done in 5 other areas in Indonesia.
