Foreign tourists felt safer to visit Bali after witnessing the anti terror drill conducted by Bali’s Police Department and Indonesian Army in several place in Bali. Alistair McArthur, a tourist from England, said “We are not disturbed by the drill. We are happy to see Indonesian special force train like this and they look very professional. It’s proved that your government is very serious in handling terrorism.”

McArthur came to Bali several days ago and they along with their friend went to the training area to see how the Indonesian army trained. In The Westin Resort, Nusa Dua, anti terror squad had to release some people held hostage by the terrorists during an international conference.

In the scenario, the terrorist used one room as their command center and to kept several important people as hostages. Then anti terror squad blow the door and disarmed the terrorists. The special force was lowered by using fast rope method from a helicopter.

Most of the scene can be witnessed by the tourists stayed in the hotel and those traveled in the area. Some tourists can even wondering around freely in their swimming suit.

In Kuta area, some streets were closed especially the one near the Hard Rock Hotel. Tourists were also watching the drill enthusiastically in the area. The army came with their heavy armor such as bulletproof car and big guns.

The officers of Bali Government such as the head of Bali’s Police Department, Ashikin Husain and the head of Kodam IX/Udayana, Hotmangaradja Pandjaitan, chatted with the tourists. “We are aware with the terrorist threat all around the world. We would like to see that the government to prevent those from happening in Bali. It is terrible to see what the terrorist done in Mumbai, India,” said Elizabeth Brown, a tourist from Australia who will celebrate New Year in Bali with her husband.
