Not like in any other province in Indonesia, the Christmas celebration in Bali was similar with other Hindu holiday such as Galungan Day. The Christian in Kuta made local food like “lawar”, “unitan”, and “be balung” which were the traditional food made in important Hindu day.
I Nengah Rana, the local joined a mass in Paroki Tritunggal Mahakudus Tuka Church, said the locals in the area had made traditional meals on Christmas since long time ago. Not only the Christian celebrated the happy day but people from different religion also celebrated it with joy.
Jack Mudastra, the head of the Paroki Tritunggal Mahakudus Tuka Church, said that the Christian and other people with different religion live in peace and harmony in Bali. In daily lives, the of¬ten help each other in many ways including when one of them held a ceremony.
“Even if there is a funeral or Ngaben ceremony, the Christian also helped in it so the ceremony can be carried out successfully,” added Mr. Mudastra.
