Out of a number of incidents, several people died in Kuta beach whilst some others saved during 2008. According to the data from Badung Government, out of all incidents taking place in Kuta beach in 2008, 15 killed in the most famous beach in Bali and 298 others managed to be saved by the lifeguards.

I Made Suparka, the head of Badung’s lifeguard squad (Balawista), said “the number of death in 2008 in creased compared to last year. In 2007, 13 people were killed in Kuta beach.” The total cases handled by Balawista also increased from 259 cases in 2007 to 313 cases this year.

From 259 cases, 13 of them died while taking a bath on the beach and 246 people managed to be rescued. In order to anticipate any accidents from occurring on the beach, the Balawista officers always on guard on 16 posts all around the beach. Currently there are 110 Balawista officers worked in shifts and ready to anticipate any problems that might happen on the beach.

On New Year 2009, domestics and foreign tourists crowded in Kuta. Even tough many people stormed the beach but luckily there was accidents happened in the past few days. This was because the tight security by the officers and the obedience of the tourists to stay away from dangerous areas.
