Kuta – The “Melasti” ceremony attracted many foreign tourist as seen in Kuta Beach on Monday, March 23rd 2009.
Jurgen, a tourist from Holland said “I’m very astonished with the cultures and customs in bali. It is very interesting and sacred.” Yoichi, a tourist from Japan also stated the similar opinion. “I’m very lucky to be in Bali during the ceremony was carried out. I was told that the melasti only happen once a year so I’m very happy,” added Yoichi.
Most of the tourists had been inform by the hotels and locals that there will be melasti ceremony on Kuta beach. Most of them came to beach very early in the morning to watch and record the ceremony. I Gusti Ngurah Tresna, the head of Kuta beach officers said “Melasti always attracted the attention of the foreign tourists. The ceremony also can be used as one of the tourist’s attraction in Bali.”
The officers also had informed regarding the ceremony and expect the tourists to honor the ceremony. There is great hope that the tourists who surf or sunbathe on the beach didn’t disturb the ceremony. “We hope that the tourists can enjoy their holiday and the Hindus can carry out the ceremony properly,” said Tresna.
