Denpasar – Bali Police Department apprehended 2 drug dealers. The total evidence confiscated from the suspects was 1 kilogram of marijuana. The suspects SI and HO were arrested in two different locations in Kuta and Denpasar.
Kokot Indarto, the Director of the Drugs Enforcement Division in Bali’s Police Department, said that SI was arrested in Ground Zero Monument on March 29th 2009 at 11 pm. The police found two package of marijuana in his pocket. From the preliminary investigation, SI sadi that he bought the drugs from HO for 200,000 rupiah.
“We immediately pursued the other suspect and HO was arrested on Monday, March 30th 2009 in the home he was renting in Pulau Enggano, Street, Pedungan Denpasar,” added Mr. Indarto. From the search of his home, the police officers found a plastic bag in the toilet. In the bag, there was 970 grams of marijuana.
The suspect admitted that he got the illegal drugs from his friend SG who was searched by police officers. The suspects are in the custody of Bali’s Police Department for further investigation. SI violated the law 78 ayat 1 letter a UU RI No 22/1997 regarding drugs and can be sentenced to up to 10 years and fined 500,000,000 Rupiah. While HO violated the 28 ayat 1 letter a UU RI Nomor 22/1997, which also regards illegal drugs and he can receive the death penalty or life imprisonment and could be fined 1 billion rupiah.
