Jakarta – The Italian embassy will launch a restoration effort on the Kertagosa complex in Klungkung, in cooperation with several other parties on May 30th, an official report said.
The effort will be made in cooperation with the Klungkung District head, the Italian Institute of Culture and the Bali Purnati Foundation.
During the event, the embassy will also hold a multi-media event, according to the press statement issued by the Italian embassy.
The restoration will focus on the “Justice Pavilion” and the refurbishment of the Museum wing hosting the works of the Italio-Balinese artist Emilio Ambron.
The cooperation stems from a sister hood pact established over a decade ago between the art city of Firenze and Klungkung, which was the capital of a Balinese district during the Majapahit kingdom period.
The event, which will be open to the Italian community in Bali as well as Balinese authorities and citizens of Klungkung, will be filmed by film director Garin Nugroho, who is a member of the Jury of the Venezia film festival 2009.
Italy organized a multi-faith cultural conference in Rome, March 4th, 2009, which was attended by Indonesian foreign affairs minister.
