Denpasar – Adi Arnawa, the head of Public Service Police, said that the management of Aston Hotel dismantled the part of the hotel that was violating the height restriction. The dismantling was carried out on Monday, June 15th 2009 after being warned by the authorities.
“We only examined the process, but the actual dismantling was done by the hotel,” added Mr. Arnawa. Aston Hotel violated rule no.3 in 2007 regarding height restriction for buildings. Buildings in Bali can only reach up to 15 meters in height.
The management of Aston Hotel was very cooperative so there was no need to force the dismantling of the building. Arnawa said that the businessmen in bali should understand the height retriction for building in order to avoid the same problem form reoccurring. The dismantling could disturb the business and the investment process in Bali.
“The action taken by Aston Hotels should become the example for others who have the same problems,” added Arnawa. The problem of height restriction has been reexamined by the government lately. However, the Bali Village Council (MUDP) urged that the rules remain fixed in order to avoid any misunderstandings. 15 meters is the maximum height because it is the height of the holy buildings in Bali. Any buildings being built must not exceed the height of holy buildings such as temples.
