Denpasar – Gusti Agung Ayu Mas, the wife of the former Governor of Bali Drs Dewa Beratha, passed away in Sanglah Hospital on Saturday, June 13th 2009. I Putu Suardhika, the head of the Public Divicion Departement in bali’s Government, said “The body had been transported from Sanglah Hospital to the former Governor’s house in banjar Sengguan Kangin in the Gianyar regency.”
Gusti Agung Ayu Mas died afetr suffering from cancer. She was the head of the Family Welfare Program (PKK) for two periods strating in 1998 through 2008, and she had already been hospitalized several times due to her illness. “The ‘Ngaben’ or funeral ceremony will be decided by the families,” added Suardhika.
The late Gusti Agung Ayu Mas, also known as Mrs. Mas Beratha was a great mother to her three sons and daughter. She was also a hard working woman, who always encourged the PKK members to reach out to the remote village throughout Bali.
The program was carried out successfully in bali and received amny awards from the government and international organizations such as the Golden Needle from the Indonesian Government.
She also was involved in many social activities such as the head of the Indonesian Kindergarten Teacher and Teacher Organization (IGTKI-PGRI) Bali, and many others.
