Denpasar – Foreign tourists from USA and Europe appear to not have been as severely affected by the global economics crisis and the swine flu issue, because they are still visiting Bali and their numbers keep increasing.
Tjok Gde Agung, a tourism businessman, said that foreign tourists are still fond of Bali and come to the Island. Tourists from Netherlands and England often visit Ubud in the Gianyar regency.
The tourists like to walk in the area while enjoying the fresh air and seeing the beautiful rice fields or farmers working in the fields.
Many people want to come to Bali to witness the uniqueness of the Island, and even famous artists such as Antonio Blanco chose to stay in Bali, and his works help promote Bali aboard.
Bali Tourism Department stated that the number of foreign tourists who visited Bali during January through April 2009 period was 645,061 people, which increased 8% compared to the same period last year which was 596,469 tourists.
In the first four months of 2009, the number of tourists kept increasing. In April 2009, 47,772 tourists visited Bali. The number increased compared to March 2009 which was 35,305 people and in February which was 33,810 tourists.
From the total numbers of tourists, 154,650 were from the European Union countries and 33,058 tourists were from USA. The tourist from England had the highest number which was 21,940 people and the Netherlands was in second place with 16,271 tourists.
