A A Gde Agung, the head of Badung regency, received a visit from General Consul of Australia in Bali, Lex Bartlem in order to discuss the establishment of Peace Monuments in ground zero, Kuta.
I Gede Wijaya, the head of Public relation division in Bali Government said that the visit was the second time after the first one four months ago. The Australian wanted to build a park in the land where the Bali bombing I happened.
“They ask for permission to build the park in ground zero area. The park will become the symbol on the importance of peace,” he added. A A Gde Agung welcomed the idea nad support the establishment of the park especially to memorize the tragedy happened in the area.
However, currently the land is owned by someone so negotiations need to be done before the Australian government could build the park. Mr. Wijaya said “if the negotiation process lasted for long period of time, Badung’s government can not guarantee that the park can be established because the area is meant for stores, restaurants, or entertainment places.” Badung gevernment needs to analyze the condition before publishing the permit for the area because it is the area of Bali Bombing monument.
