The income gained from tourism sector especially from Visa on Arrival (VOA) to Bali during January through April 2009 period were $8.5 million. I Gusti Viraguna Bagoes Oka, Bank of Indonesia’s head branch Denpasar, said “the VOA income varied from time to time depends on the number of tourists visited Bali.”
Based on the financial assessment, the tourist coming to Bali must pay $10 if they wanted to stay for a week. For those who wanted to stay more than seven days, they must pay $25 for each person.
VOA received in january 2009 was $2.2 million and became $1.8 million in the next month. In march 2009, the VOA gained $2.1 million in March and became $2.4 million in April. Viraguna said “the duration of the stay also affected the VOA gained by Bali.
Ida Komang Wisnu, the head of Bali Statistic Departement, said that the number of tourists visited Bali increasing every month during January through April 2009 period. The total number of tourists came to Bali in the first four months of 2009 were 679,226 people.
The hotels occupancy rates in April 2009 was 58.95%. That number increased 1.23 point from the previous months while the average stay period was 3.65 days. He also stated that the stay duration affected the VOA income.
