Bali’s Government will build a freeway connecting Denpasar with Singaraja in order to develop tourism in northern Bali especially in Bulelelng regency. Bali’s Governor, Made Mangku Pastika in an open house in Buleleng, said “the freeway will make the time needed to reach Buleleng shorter. Hopefully more tourists will visit the regency if the freeway already done.”
The governor said that the freeway will started to be built in 2010 and will be finish in 2013. The freeway will also assist in balancing the development in bali. Currently, the development mostly happened in southern Bali and the northern part rarely touched by the development.
The governor determined that in the future, the development must happened throughout Bali and he hope that the society in Bali supported the idea.
“The freeway will force the government to built tunnel as long as 2 kilometers and we will socialize the plan frist. We don’t want the people of Bali to disagree because we always considered the nature and the holiness of the island.
Pastika explained that there are three targets of Bali’s development; they are education, health,a nd economy. In health, the government prepared 90 billion rupiah of health fund in 2010. The people of Bali who wanted health services don’t have to pay as long as they have identification card.
In education, the government committed that the people of Bali at least must study until senior high school. For that program, Bali’s Government prepared 800 billion rupiah and 500 billion rupiah came from the Indonesian Government.
The Governor went to Buleleng to find out what the local people say about the development of Bali. Many people in the open house ask the governor or give their opinion or suggestion during the event. The governor was accompanied by the Vice Governor A A Puspayoga, the head of Buleleng, Putu Bagiada, and his vice Made Arga Pinatih.
