Indonesian Tour Guide Association (HPI) urged the government and Bali Police Department to increase the security especially in October because the month is the “anniversary” of Bali Bombing I and II.
The first bomb exploded in bali 2002 and the second one was in 2005. Nyoman Kandia, the head of HPI Bali said “Bali is one of the main tourist destinations in the world. We must be more careful especially in October. We must take preventive actions so the bomb blast will not happen again.”
The safety of Bali is the homework for the police department and also for Bali’s Governor, Made Mangku Pastika who has the experience as the head of Bali Bomb I Investigation team.
“Everyone hope that the terrible incidents will not happen again in bali. I’m sure that the governor also committed to guard Bali”, he added. Kandia said that if the Governor can not take care of Bali then he should be relieved from his duty.
He is quite certain that the condition in Bali will stay stable after the bomb blasts in Jakarta on July 17th 2009. The optimism based on the number of tourist visited Bali which is very stable lately. The assistance from countries such as United States and Austalia in dealing with terrorism also will contribute in maintaining the safety level in bali.
Meanwhile, Bali’s Governor Made Mangku Pastika, is committed to increase the safety in Bali and will apply international standard security in Bali. The governor planned to place at least 1,000 closed-circuit televisions (CCTV) throughout Bali. He also will rearrange Bali Security Department.
“We still need to find the best formula for the department in order to make in suitable with the current government system,” added Pastika. Bali’s Police department also has anticipated the posibility of terrorist entering Bali by placing at least one police officer in every village.
Gede Sugianyar, the head of Public Relation Division in Bali’s Police Department, said that the officer placed in the village will act as the facilitator in maintaining the security. The step is also the part of public policeman program.
“they will work in a group and the police officer will act as the initiator,” he added. The police also closely watched the chemical movement in the market.
