The head of Indonesian Businessman Association (Apindo) Bali, Panudiana Kuhn, said that the effect of Bomb Blasts in Jakarta on July 17 2009 is not influencing the business situation in Bali.
“Even tough the bomb explosion surprising the businessmen but it didn’t affect the business greatly. The one that we must aware is the global financial crisis,” he added. The financial crisis made the number of tourists visited Bali decreased since few months ago.
Kuhn said, “after the incident, there were small number of tourists shortened their visitation in Bali and return to their native countries but there were no more cancellation after that. It means that there are no the following effects of the bomb blast.”
Based on the data from Bali Statistics Department, the number of tourists which decreased during January through May 2009 period was from Taiwan, South Korea, Germany, Japan and England.
While there was also increased in the number of tourists visited Bali during the same period. The number of tourists from China increased 55%, from France increase 36% from Australia 34% from Malaysia increased 25%, and from Russia increase 5%.
Kuhn reminded that everyone should be aware of the crisis and work together to overcome it. Generally, the total number of tourists visited Bali increased compared to last year but the people must keep working hard to increase and develop tourism in Bali.
“Our econimics is determined by tourism sector and we hope that the number of tourists visited Bali will be stable and even increase. If that condition happen, the business and culture will not affected by the crisis,” added Mr. Kuhn.
Kang Dharma Wijaya, a businessman, said that the financial crisis that made many business fainted can be handled soon. “Obviously as soon as possible because it affected many things including the number of tourists visited Bali,” he added.
