Even tough there was a report saying that the most wanted terrorist, Noordin M Top, had been killed but Bali’s Police Department still alert and increasing the security level.
I Gede Alit Widana, the head of Denpasar Precinct, said “we still on high alert even if the news about Noordin M Top died in the gun battle with the police are true.” He added that the act of terrorism can not be predicted and can happen anywhere and anytime, so Bali Police Department will keep the security maintenance pattern for indefinite length of time.
Widana said “we have the personnel patrolling all around the island and we also increasing the security level in the vital places such as Ngurah Rai Airport, tourism sites, hotels including Nusa Dua.”
The police department is also preparing to safeguard several international events which will be held in Bali. “Our law area as an international tourism destination makes bigger bossibility to become the target of terrorism act. That’s why we don’t want the similar thing few weeks ago in Jakarta happen again,” said Widana.
In addition to searching everyone entering Denpasar, the police officers also conducted special operation to searched vehicles on the street. The police department also spread undercover police to examine the area vulnerable to be entered by the terrorists.
From the latest results, there was no suspicious person in Denpasar area. Widana said “we don’t want to be carried away with the death news of Noordin. We will keep maintaining the security level as long as it takes.”
