The number of foreign tourist arrivals in Bali grew by 12.9 percent to 200,566 in June 2009 from the same period last year, an official said.
Compared to May 2009 the number of foreign tourist arrivals in June 2009 increased 5.12 percent, Head of the Bali Provincial Office of the Central Bureau of Statistics (BPS) IB Komang Wisnu said here on Monday.
A total of 190,803 foreign tourists visited the resort island in May 2009.
Australia topped the list of tourist arrivals in Bali in June 2009 with 43,668 tourists accounting for 21.77 percent of the total, he said.
Japan came in second with 21,949 tourists (10.94 percent), followed by Malaysia 15,661 tourists (7.81 percent), China 12,102 tourists (6.03 percent), and South Korea 10,734 tourists (5.35%).
Star-rated hotels occupancy rate in June 2009 averaged 62.77 percent, up by 2.51 points from a month earlier when it was recorded at 60.26 percent, he said.
“Badung district took the lead in terms of occupancy rate with 68.18 percent, followed by Tabanan with 63.53 percent, Denpasar 56.29 percent, Gianyar 50.73 percent, Karangasem 33.05 percent, and Buleleng 30.47 percent,” he said.
He said two-star hotels’ occupancy rate in June 2009 rechead 44.08 percent, the lowest among star-rated hotels’ occupancy rates I that month.
“Non-star hotels’ occupancy rate in Bali in June 2009 reached an average of 32.62 percent,” he said.
Bali is one of Indonesia’s main tourist destinations.
