The number of passengers coming through Ngurah Rai Airport increased greatly. The condition made some people can be transported on the proper schedule. I Nyoman Suarta, an officer in Lebaran post in Ngurah Rai Airport, said “the passengers who didn’t transported by the normal flights will be transported using the extra flights.”
On the third day of Lebaran day or on Wednesday, September 23rd 2009, there were eight flights carrying 1,615 passengers. The number of passengers increased 100% compared to the previous day. On Tuesday, September 22nd 2009, there were four flights carrying 824 passengers.
There were 65 arrivals on Wednesday carrying 8,205 passengers and 65 departures carrying 844 passengers. Suarta said that the extra flights had been applied since September 16th and will continue through September 27th 2009. The increased of passengers in Ngurah Rai Airport had been anticipated and there is great hope that all the flights can accommodate all of the passengers. 24 planes ready to fly for the extra flights to all cities throughout Indonesia.
