Badung Government held a ritual “Pemelepeh Linuh” on Wednesday, October 7th 2009. The ritual was held in order to prevent the disasters which often happen in several areas in Indonesia.
The “Pemelepeh Linuh” presented offerings to the Gods and sacrificing animals which is called “Caru Manca Kelud”. The Hindus in Bali believe that the offering will prevent earthquake from happening.
The ritual was held in Seseh beach and followed by “pekelem” ritual which was putting the sacrificed animal into the ocean. The ritual was led by Pedanda (Pendeta) Gede Kekeran Pemaron, joined by the head of Badung regency AA Gde Agung SH, the vice of Badung House of representative, I Nyoman Sunarta, and other officers.
Gde Agung said that the ritual was held in order to prevent disasters especially earthquake from happening again in Indonesia. An earthquake happened in bali on September 19th 2009. The quake damaged several buildings and temples throughout Bali. There is great hope that the ritual could prevent the same disaster from happening again.
I Nyoman Sukada, the head of Badung Hindu Dharma Association (PHDI), said that in addition to being held in every regency, the ritual also conducted in every house in Bali. The ritual was held on Thursday, October 8th 2009, at the same time with “Sugian Jawa”.
Badung Government will held bigger ceremony “Pemahayu Jagat” on November 23rd 2009 in two locations; Geger beach and Puncak Mangu temple. The purpose of the ceremony is to ask for safety and welfare for all human.
