Bali’s Governor, Made Mangku Pastika said that the population growth in Bali was 1.4% per year or approximately 50,000 people. “The development of inhabitants in Bali should be handled carefully;one of them is by carrying out the family plan program (KB). Currently, the total population in Bali is 3.2 million people,” he added.
The government promote family plan program in Karangasem regency on Wednesday, October 7th 2009. The event joined by the head of Indonesian Family Plan Department, Sugiri Syarief, and the head of Military area IX/Udayana, Mayor Jenderal TNI Hotmangardja Pandjaitan.
The rapid increase of people in Bali must be followed by better health care, education, housing, and job vacancies so the people will not become the burden of development. The effort to increase the economics income of the people is also very important and one of the step is developing productive business.
The governor reminded everyone on the possibility of population blast in Bali because the increasing number of birth or uncontrolled migrants coming to the island. The cooperating between the related departments in the government hopefully could control the population growth in Bali.
The target of KB participants in karangasem are 5,050 people and the on the first day, 4,441 people had joined the program. The governor is very optimist that the target can be accomplished.
