“When the climate change happened globally, the sea level will become higher and the white sand will be washed away by the high waves,” he added. In addition to the increasing sea level, the temperature will become higher so the condition will make the tourists uncomfortable.
For marine tourism, the global warming will make the coral reef whiten and the view will not beautiful anymore. Sobandono said “there is also possibility of extreme current so the condition is not safe for diving.”
Currently, the sea level is increasing approximately 10 millimeters a year. Even though it is very small but if continues then it will effect the live of living things. The ground is also become lower because the high compunction of underground water. The condition made the sea level higher but actually the ground is lower.
According to Subandono, if the condition is not properly handled, the northern coast of Java will be gone for approximately 3 kilometers in the next 100 years. For the steep beach like in Bali, there is the need to decrease the sea level.
He also supported the concept “Tri Hita Karana” of the Balinese because it can maintain the balance of the nature. “Tri Hita Karana” promotes the good relationship between human and God, with their environment, and with each other.
