The head of Bali Tourism Department, Ida Bagus Subhiksu, said that the department plan to make complete analysis regarding the ability of Bali to accommodate tourists.
“We never find out how much tourists that Bali can accommodate in a year, a month, or a week. Especially during the holiday season where the number of tourists increasing highly,” he added.
The tourism policy forum among islands forum was closed on Tuesday, November 2nd 2009 in Sanur Beach hotel. The forum is being held by the countries which have marine tourism based on the geographic form.
The governors from five provinces throughout the world, they are the vice of Hainan Governor in China, Jiang Sixian, the governor of southern province of Sri Lanka, Neranjala Pushpa Kumari Balasuriya, the vice Governor of Jaeju province in South Korea, Yang Jo-hoon and the vice governor of Okinawa Province in Japan, Katsuko Asato.
After conducted meeting for two days, the governors agreed three principals, everyone should preserve the sea and can be increased its tourism management. The provinces also agreed to cooperate in developing marine tourism and conserve the sea.
Subhiksu said that other countries had a comprehensive tourism analysis system. “Singapore is the closest example. The can attract millions of tourists a year. It is not only because of the promotion but also because the support from the system,” he added.
Hainan province in China can be the alternative province to be learned by the government. Bali has 45,000 hotels rooms from various classes and visited by approximately 4 million tourists a year. The government target for Bali is 5 million tourists a year from the total 7 million tourists nationally.
Bali Governor, Made Mangku Pastika, said that Bali will take full advantage on the coorperation. “We will share experiences and we could promote each ther to the tourists. There are many similarities between Bali and Hainan such as the climate,” he added.
The governor will analyze the government resources to act on the agreement. The government also wanted to develop tourism on northern part of Bali because currently, the development of tourism only happened on the south side of Bali. Pastika said “Bali is very beautiful all around and I’m quite sure that the tourists also wanted to visit the northern part of Bali.”
The development could be started on Nusa Penida, Nusa Lembongan and Nusa Ceningan in Klungkung regency.
