Bali seem to remain popular among the people throughout the world as one of the famous tourism destination. This can be seen by the increasing number of tourist fly directly to Indonesia from their homeland.
Tjokorda Gde Agung, a tourism observer said that the increasing number of tourists visited Bali because of the hospitality and the unique culture of the island. On addition to those points, the beautiful nature of Bali also attract tourists visited the island known as “ The Island of Thousands Temples”.
The government announced that the total number of tourists coming to Indonesia was 5,166,642 people and 38% or 1,978,593 tourists fly directly to Ngurah Rai Airport in Bali.
The number of foreign tourists coming through Ngurah Rai Airport increased 14% compared to the same period last year while the one coming to Soekarno Hatta Airport decreased 5%.
Tjok Agung said all elements of Bali should keep up the good work and improve in some parts in order to maintain the tourism business to develop in the future. This is very important because the other tourism destination in Indonesia such as Batam suffered from high decreased of tourist’s visitation.
More direct flights to Bali is one of the methods that could attract tourists visited Bali besides increasing promotion abroad. If there are local airlines that could fly to Europe then it could help in developing tourism in Bali such as Garuda Indonesia.
