Bali need 63 megawatt during the maintenance of the gas power plant in Gilimanuk, western Bali. Agung Mastika, the spokesman of Indonesian Electrical Company (PLN) Bali, said “the maintenance process started on October 10th 2009 and will finish on January 15th 2009.”
The electricity deficit made the PLN must put out electricity in certain area of Bali in turn. The schedule of the electricity black out is already arranged so it will be fair for all of the people in Bali. “The black out can reach one regency,” Mastika said.
The black out will happened at least twice a week on 6 o’clock through 10 o’clock at night. There will be no electricity put out on day time to avoid disturbances on the activities of the people.
Agung explained that Bali has the capacity of 528 megawatts which is received from Java 200 megawatts, Pesanggaran power plant 172 megawatts, Pemaron power plant 80 megawatts and Gilimanuk 130 megawatts.
With the Gilimanuk power plant under maintenance, Bali suffers from electricity deficit because the peak burden is 515 megawatts. The condition made the people should save at least 100 watts of electricity in order to avoid the black out.
