The tourism businessmen in Bali optimist that the number of foreign tourists visited the island will increase in the next few months, as well as the economics condition throughout the world.
Ida Bagus Gede Sidharta Putra, a tourism businessman, said “I am optimist that the number of tourists will increase near Christmas and New Year 2010.” Hotels in Kuta, Sanur, and Nusa Dua are fully booked during the end of the year. The condition shows that Bali is still one of the favorite tourism destinations in the world.
“The businessmen should be prepared to welcome and give the proper service to the guests so they enjoy their stay in Bali. By giving the best service, there is great hope that the tourists will come again to Bali,” Sidharta said.
Ida Komang Wisnu, the head of Bali Statistics Department, said that the number of tourists visited Bali in October 2009 was 220,909 tourists. The number increase 19% compared to the same month last year.
99.9% of the tourists coming to Bali using airplanes and less that 1 % chose to use sea transportation. “The number of foreign tourists coming through Ngurah rai Airport increase 3% compared top the previous month,” Wisnu said.
The total number of foreign tourists visited Bali in January through October 2009 period was 1,982,274 people or increased 14% compared to the same period last year. The most tourists were coming from Australia, japan, China, Malaysia and South Korea.
Wisnu said “the high number of tourists surely affected the hotel occupancy rates. Currently, the hotel occupancy rate is 64% and the average staying time of the tourists in Bali is 4,21 days.” The hotel occupancy rate increase 1.24 point compared to September 2009.
