The number of foreign tourists visited Bali was 2.3 million people or 38% from the total number of foreign tourists coming to Indonesia which was 5.7 million tourists.
Ida Komang Wisnu, the head of Bali Statistics Department, said “Ngurah Rai International Airport has important role compare to the other airports which receive foreign tourists from throughout the world.”
Soekarno-Hatta Jakarta contribute 21% from the total number of foreign tourists visited Indonesia, Batam, 15% and other airports such as Medan and Makasar was 24%. Wisnu said that the number of foreigners visited Bali during January through November 2009 was 2.1 million people.
The number increase 13% compared to the same period last year which was 1.9 million tourists. “The number was not included December which is predicted higher than the number of tourists in November,”Wisnu added.
Australia is still the number one country that sends its citizen to bali as tourists. The number of tourists from Australia last year was 398,787 people. The number increased 39% compared to the previous year.
Most of the tourists were using air transport and only 862 people were coming from the sea using cruise ship.
Australia contributes 18% from the total number of tourists visited Bali. Next on the list were Japan, China, Malaysia, South Korea, Taiwan, France, and England.
