Garuda Wisnu Kencana foundation (GWK) offered a chance to Bali Government to invest their fund in the form of local obligation in the foundation. The investment is needed to preserve the cultural value of Bali.
Gde Ardika, the founder of GWK foundation, said “we offered the change for Bali Government to take part in conserving the values of Bali.” In a meting with the member of Bali House of Representative, he said that GWK in Ungasan village is to make it as the icon of Bali in business and culture.
“the idea of the establishment of the ares is to combine business and culture in the image of Bali’s tourism,” he added.
Ardika explained that in order to finish the project which was built since 23 years ago, the fund needed is IDR2.5 billions. “With the need of that much fund, we offered the government to help,” Ardika said.
While that head of Commission I in Bali House, I Made Arjaya, said that the offer need to be analyze thoroughly. “The offer is quite reasonable but we need to analyze it because we found out that the GWK is owned by corporation and foundation. It is quite confusing for us,” he added.
The analysis will consider the business aspect and the effect of GWK in preserving Bali’s culture.
GWK was built in 1997 and it is a statue in Ungasan Hill in Jimbaran. The statue is being built by I Nyoman Nuarta, a Balinese artist, which the total height is 145 meters. The statue is taller than Liberty which is 46 meters.
