Denpasar Sanitation and Garden Department, cut trees on the side of the roads in order to anticipate the rainy season and the strong wind. I Ketut Wisada, the head of Denpasar Sanitation and Garden Department, said “we are very worried that the trees could fall down during heavy rain or strong wind so we must cut the leaf and branches.”
The department also prepared five teams of garbage disposal where each team consists of four officers. “The teams are ready 24 hours so if there is a tree blocking the road, the people can directly report to the department and we will act right away.”
Currently, the department has 40 trucks to handle garbage problems in Denpasar but 5 of them are broken so there are only 35 units available. “Last year we bought other cars last year which have special purposes such as a garbage container, one unit of harm-roll, and a street swiper,” Wisada said.
The street swiper can clean 10 kilometers of road in an hour and it is already being use to clean Ngurah Rai Street and other free parking streets.
Wisada hoped that all of the people take part keeping the environment clean by not throwing the garbage everywhere. “we keep socializing the clean lifestyle to the people and we also had coordinated to the head of the village for the issue,” he added.
In the future, to keep the hygiene of the environment, the government will cooperate with the local Balinese police or “pecalang”. This is needed to preserve the environment.
