Uluwatu temple is planed to be one of the places visited by the President of USA, Barack Obama during his stay in Bali. AA Gde Agung, the head of Badung regency on Wednesday, March 11th 2010, was conducting a meeting to prepare the necessary thing needed during Obama visit in Bali.
The officers took part in the meeting were the officer from Pecatu village, I Made Sumerta and I Wayan Rebong, the member of Puri Agung Jero Kuta and others.
Even tough there is no confirmation from the US Govenmnet but the officers and department in Bali are preparing for the visit by Obama which is planed on March 21st 2010.
When he arrives in Bali, Obama will directly go to the hotel then visiting Uluwatu Temple in Pecatu, southern Kuta. There, he will watch kecak dance and the beautiful sunset. Obama is also planning to conduct a discussion in Udayana University and visit the Monkey Forest in Ubud.
Gde Agung said “Obama is planning to stay in Bali for two days before he go to Australia.” The officers of Badung government and the army were already inspecting the temple.
From the inspection, the governoe discovered that many problems occur such as the damage road leading the temple and the cleanliness of the surrounding area. “The security will become very tight during Obama visitation. We hope that the people around Pecatu take part in preserving the security, Gede Agung added.
Badung Government has prepared the fund to arrange the Uluwatu Temple based on the proposal by the locals. Gde Agung explained that the project is not only because Obama will come to Bali but also to make Uluwatu as one of the most famous tourism site in Badung.
I Wayan Sudirta, the officer of Pecatu, said that the people are very proud Obama want to come to the village. “We are ready to welcome Obama and will give him the best day of his life,” he added.
The people in the area are ready to assist in maintaining the security and arranging the area including to take care of the cleanleness. However, Sudirta asked the government to act promptly because the limited time.
The officer of Indoensian army had come to Bali to prepare Obama’s visit. The army while prepare 9,000 officers. The high number of personnel is needed to guard Obama and the President of Indonesia Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono.
